Longmeadow - Longmeadow School Committee member Michael Clark, who will end his second and final term on the Longmeadow School Committee following the June 13, 2017 Town elections, has endorsed Elizabeth Baron for Longmeadow School Committee.
In a Letter to the Editor, Clark outlines why he believes Elizabeth Baron will be an asset to the entire Longmeadow Community.
“I am pleased to give my full, unwavering support to Elizabeth Baron as she campaigns for a seat on the Longmeadow School Committee. As I conclude my six years on the School Committee, Elizabeth Baron is the only person I trust to carry on the important work our School Committee does with integrity and courage,” Clark said.
“Public Education is facing enormous threats from well funded special interests and the federal government,” Clark continued, “That’s why it has never been more important to have qualified, dedicated people who believe in the virtue of a free and public education for all students on the frontlines of this fight--regardless of what they look like, what they believe, where they come from, or who they love. Elizabeth Baron is one of those people and she will fight to protect our students from dubious attempts to erode public education.”
“In times of shrinking budgets and growing requirements for teachers, Elizabeth Baron will skillfully lead our school district through a period of immense change in public education. Elizabeth will work with everyone – people who agree with her and people who don’t – to ensure the best possible education for all students. More importantly, she will stand on principal and never back down when student success is at stake.”
“I know that Elizabeth Baron possesses these values because I’ve seen them first hand,” Clark said of Baron, “Whether it was leading the effort to build our new Longmeadow High School, working in our classrooms as a substitute teacher, leading the Center School PTO, or raising her own three children. Elizabeth’s strong convictions and eagerness to serve her community are evident in everything she does. She will be a great public servant and a true leader.”
In concluding his letter, Clark said“Elizabeth understands what is at stake when it comes to public education – but she also understands what is at stake for every member of our community. While she will keep her eyes on the child, she’ll do so with our entire community in mind.”
“I’m proud to give Elizabeth Baron my full support – she is the only candidate that I trust to work for our entire community and I encourage you to vote Elizabeth Baron of Longmeadow School Committee on June 13, 2017. “
